What is the break-even point?
It is the number of units you must sell so that total revenue exactly covers total costs — the point where profit is zero. It equals fixed costs divided by the contribution margin per unit.
What is contribution margin?
Contribution margin is the selling price per unit minus the variable cost per unit. It is the amount each sale contributes toward covering fixed costs and, beyond break-even, toward profit.
