Frequently asked questions

How do I calculate a percentage of a number?

Use the ‘X% of Y’ mode. For example, 15% of 200 is (15 ÷ 100) × 200 = 30. The calculator does this automatically.

How is percentage increase calculated?

Percentage change is (new − old) ÷ |old| × 100. A move from 80 to 100 is a 25% increase; from 100 to 80 is a 20% decrease.
