How is PPF interest calculated?
PPF interest compounds annually. Each year the deposit is added to the running balance and the whole balance earns interest: balance = (balance + yearly deposit) × (1 + rate ÷ 100). This tool repeats that for every year of the tenure.
What is the current PPF interest rate?
The PPF rate is reviewed and set every quarter by the Government of India. It is 7.1% at present, but you can edit the rate in the calculator if it changes.
What is the minimum PPF tenure?
A PPF account has a minimum tenure of 15 years. After that it can be extended in blocks of 5 years, so this calculator does not allow a tenure shorter than 15 years.
